Mngangagwa calls for ‘quick wins’ projects from ministers

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has urged ministers to come up with five quick-win high impact projects to work on within the first 100 Days as part of plans to achieve a middle-income economy by 2030.

This came out of the first seating of the new 20-member cabinet.

“All ministers, particularly the new ones should embrace the 100 Day cycle,” said President Mnangagwa.

“The programme cycle has helped us to accentuate the rapid and efficient implementation of priority projects, with an immediate impact on the livelihoods of our people”.

President Mnangagwa said ministers will take turns to make presentations of their projects during cabinet meetings and these will be relayed to the nation through statements by the Ministry of Information and Publicity every Wednesday.

¨I expect members of my government to speak with one voice,” he said.

“Our approach will entail four or five ministers making a presentation during the course of a cabinet meeting scheduled until the 100-day cycle finishes.

“The decision taken by Cabinet will be communicated to the nation every Wednesday through press statements prepared by the minister of information and publicity together with the implementing ministers”.

Since taking power in November 2017, President Mnangagwa has been hard pressed to turn around the economic fortunes of the country and has been on charm offensive to lure foreign direct investment into the country.
