Harvest House choir to Launch new album “Hakamah-The Revival” in Bulawayo

The Harvest Music Super Choir is gearing up to release their 19-track album, “Hakamah-The Revival,” scheduled for launch on Friday at the Harvest House International Conference Centre (HHICC) in Bulawayo.

The choir, in coming up with the album, worked with renowned musician and co-founder of the Joyous Celebration Choir Dr Lindelani Mkhize and Siyangoba Mthethwa.

The launch will feature performances from South African gospel artist Benjamin Dube and local artist Minister Michael Mahendere.

Addressing journalists at a press conference held on Tuesday, co-founder of Harvest House International Church, Senior Reverend Dr Sarah Nyathi described the album as a project with a difference.

She said the choir will perform nine songs on stage while the rest will be screened.

“The production team, made up of Joyous Celebration co-founder, Lindelani Mkhize, Siyangoba Mthethwa (Joyous Celebration) and local producer Tremier Msipa, brings in a wealth of experience in musical production. Gospel enthusiasts can expect a variety of genres including dancehall, rhumba, classical, techno among others,” Dr Nyathi said.

Dr Nyathi said all the songs on the album are accompanied by videos produced by high-profile local videographers.

“It is a blend of modern and traditional gospel, expected to take both the young and the old on a spiritual awakening journey. Videos that accompany the timeless gospel music were produced by local videographers, which include Umsebenzi ka Blaqs, Danny Lasker and AM Media. Music lovers familiar with Bulawayo can expect to see some of the city’s iconic buildings and monuments in the videos. “We are excited that we are entering into new frontiers, and we are looking forward to breaking into the international gospel scene,” she said.

Speaking at the same event, Dr Mkhize applauded the choir for the hard work and extra hours they put into the compilation of the album.

“It’s been a long project. We worked so hard, putting in a lot of extra hours. Sometimes the sun would come up while we worked. It took almost the whole year to come up with this album,” Dr Mkhize said.

“What I want to point out is how much the choir has evolved, they were so dedicated throughout, and they have improved a lot. I am yet to see a choir that has better soprano than them. Of course, there are a lot of good soprano singers out there, but so far Harvest Music has outdone itself!”

One of the singers from the Choir, Mimi Tarukwana, expressed gratitude to Dr Mkhize for working with them and to Harvest House International Church for the support.

“It was really a long journey. We put in alot of work to get to where we are today. I joined the choir some few years ago and I have grown so much as an individual, we have grown so much as a group and we know and understand each other’s strengths and weaknesses and that is what has led us to have this big achievement,” she said.
