Hwange resident seeks support for pilot course

By Ndumiso Tshuma

Tapiwa Nkomo, a resident of Hwange, is seeking financial assistance to pursue his dream of becoming a private pilot.

The total cost of the private pilot course is US$21 000, and Nkomo has already managed to raise US$7 000.

He is appealing to the public for help with the remaining balance of US$14 000.

The three-month course requires a deposit of US$2 000, with the balance due three weeks before the start date.

Nkomo, a married father of three who currently works at a mining company in Hwange, expressed his passion for aviation but acknowledged the financial hurdle of raising the remaining funds.

“While I wouldn’t say I’m facing financial difficulties overall,” Nkomo explained, “the challenge lies in raising the US$14,000. I already have US$7,000 saved.”

Nkomo’s motivation to become a pilot stems from his desire to help others and his interest in tourism, specifically sightseeing flights.

“My passion for becoming a private pilot comes from my love for helping people and my interest in tourism as a sightseeing pilot,” he shared. “I would like to fly air rescue service aircraft or those in the tourism industry.”

Due to limited network coverage in his work area, Nkomo apologised for potential communication disruptions during his night shifts, which run from 5:30 PM to 8:00 AM the following day.

He is reachable during the day and assured potential supporters of his availability.

“I currently work in a remote area with no network service until I return to the office or home. Please bear with me,” Nkomo said. “My night shift starts at 5:30 PM and continues until 8:00 AM the next day. That’s when I’ll be reachable. Communication might be limited while I’m at work.”

Individuals willing to assist Nkomo can contact him on his mobile phone at 0784096380.
