NGO gets nod to set up private clinic in Gwanda

A non-governmental organization has been granted permission to set up a private clinic in Tshongwe village in Gwanda.

Educational Foundation Trust had its application to Gwanda Rural District Council approved at a recent full council meeting.

The clinic which will be situated in ward 11 will ensure that villagers have access to primary health care services.

“Council received a letter from Educational Foundation Trust and a registered non-governmental organisation based in Gwanda urban requesting for land to construct a private clinic at Tshongwe village in ward 11,” the meeting was informed.

The councillors recommended that the organisation be given land and permission to construct the health facility.

Clarifying the issue during the full council meeting, Sikholiwe Sibanda from the organisation said they will solely operate as a private clinic.

“We are hoping to construct a private clinic in Tshongwe village, we will be operating as a private clinic but we will be working with the council and the Ministry of Health,” he said.

Sibanda said they will be responsible for paying the staff that will be working at the clinic.
