Man appeals for financial assistance to undergo spine surgery

A 42-year-old man from Chitungwiza, Gerald Rutendo Ticharewa is appealing for financial assistance to undergo a spine realignment and lumbar decompression surgery.

Ticharewa needs US$ 3 900 to undergo the surgery.

Lumbar decompression surgery is a type of surgery used to treat compressed nerves in the lower spine.

The surgery aims to improve symptoms such as persistent pain and numbness in the legs caused by pressure on the nerves in the spine.

On the other hand, spinal realignment aims to improve the spinal balance usually done using metal screws, rods and plates to permanently fuse certain segments of the spine.

Speaking to CITE, Ticharewa said his condition developed after he suffered a stroke in 2019.

“I suffered a stroke two years ago and I have been suffering from urinary and faecal incontinence plus weakness and pain in the lower limbs. I am appealing for assistance to the value of US$3 900,” said Ticharewa.

“The physician said that I have got a nerve that stuck on my spinal disc and I have to undergo surgery for spinal realignment and to rectify the situation.It has been very difficult for me as a father and a husband in my condition. I haven’t been able to run my company as I do relocation consulting and car hire .”
