Festive cheer spreads in Byo as TTI donates 1000 food hampers

Tendy Three Investment (TTI) Pvt Ltd donated food hampers to at least 1000 vulnerable households in Bulawayo through the Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Fund on Friday.

The beneficiaries of the groceries, which were worth a total of USD23 000, were identified through the city’s social welfare offices and are from Lobengula, Mzilikazi, Entumbane, Luveve, Magwegwe, Pumula, Mpopoma, Tshabalala, Nkulumane and Eastern Areas.

Speaking at the handover ceremony in Mzilikazi suburb, TTI Executive Chairperson, Lizwe Mabuza, said the donation was made possible through motorists who pay their parking fees in town.

Mabuza said the company to date has employed about 356 locals and with further expansion, there is a possibility to employ more.

“This donation was made possible through motorists who park their vehicles in town and pay for the parking services. We are very grateful to them. If it wasn’t for them we would not have managed to make this gesture. Although the company (TTI) is only turning two years in February 2024, this is the fourth donation that we are making to members of the community,” he said.

“To date, TTI has employed at least 356 people from Bulawayo and we hope to employ more when we expand. May we please encourage our children, who are 18 years old and beyond, to come to the TTI offices and submit their CVs so that when we get openings, they can be employed.”

Chairperson of the Mayor’s Christmas Cheer-fund, Pastor Kilton Moyo, commended the donation gesture, highlighting that such acts show love for one another within the community.

“We are all encouraged to love one another in the Word of God. And this gesture by TTI is a sign of love. May we get these donations and take them back home and share with others with love,” Pastor Moyo said.

Bulawayo Deputy Mayor, Cllr Edwin Ndlovu, said there has been an increase in the number of people who have been requesting to be added to the social welfare list.

“While we hand over these hampers, Over these hampers, we are cognisant of the need that is there in our community. We continue to get more people requesting for inclusion in these lists. In 2022 we had over 8600 applicants and this year we expect to get just about that number or more from the enquiries we have been getting,” Cllr Ndlovu.

“The ballooning numbers over the years are reflective of the need in the community. It thus calls on all of us to play our part in giving to our friends, families and neighbours. A simple invitation for your neighbour to join you for Christmas lunch is enough to change their day and their festive season. Let us be our brothers’ keepers and be good stewards.”

Cllr Ndlovu extended the council’s appreciation for the donation.

“This corporate social responsibility will go a long way in bringing a smile to a thousand families this Christmas. May you continue to share with the vulnerable during this time and beyond,” he said.
