BCC warns of water supply interruption

Some high density suburbs in Bulawayo are likely to face water supply interruptions due to planned maintenance works by the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) in Nyamandlovu.

This will affect the Magwegwe Resevoir which supplies water to Cowdray Park, Gwabalanda, Emakhandeni, Entumbane, Phelandaba West(Hawkflight), Magwegwe, Lobengula, Lobengula West, Mabuthweni, Matshobane, Njube,Luveve,Mpopoma, Magwegwe North and Magwegwe West.

In a statement, Bulawayo Town Clerk Christopher Dube said water supplies to these suburbs will be interrupted.

“The City of Bulawayo would like to advise members of the public that ZETDC will be carrying out maintenance repairs in Nyamandlovu on the 66 KV line from Sunday, 8 August 2021 at 0600hours to Tuesday 10 August 2021 at 1800hours totalling 60hours and 88KV line from Saturday 14 August 2021 at 1800 hours totalling 36hours.,” said Dube.

“During the stipulated times, pumping from Nyamandlovu will be interrupted and may result in possible water supply disruptions for all areas fed by Magwegwe reservoir.”

He encouraged to conserve water accordingly and ensure that taps remain turned off in case of earlier completion of the said works.

“Bulawayo City Council wishes to apologise to it’s valued consumers for any inconveniences caused,” said Dube.
