Zanu PF delivering on its electoral promises: Mnangagwa

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said Zanu PF is on course on delivering its 2018 electoral promises, announcing that Government will next week launch the ambitious Agricultural Recovery Plan.

President Mnangagwa said while opening the Zanu PF 343rd Ordinary Session of the Politburo in Harare on Wednesday.

“Government programmes continue to be implemented drawing from the 2018 Party Manifesto. We are delivering on the promises we made to the people. We are course and will never waiver from delivering on our promises. Let our citizens know of these achievements,” the President said.

“The Agriculture Recovery Plan which I will be launching on 26 August, seeks to meet the promise made towards promoting productivity, enhancing support systems and infrastructure and developing markets for our agriculture products to earn foreign currency,” President Mnangagwa added.

President Mnangagwa also took time to explain that the Global Compensation Deed Agreement was a product of the 2018 manifesto.

“As highlighted in our Manifesto, our Agriculture programmes such as broadening of the access to land by more Zimbabweans through the rationalisation of farm size and the elimination of multiple farm ownership, is on course.

“In line with our national constitution and indeed as outlined in our 2018 Party Manifesto, Government has since concluded the Global Compensation Deed Agreement with the former commercial farmers. This is yet another promise we have fulfilled,” President Mnangagwa said.

The President further highlighted that progress was being made with regards to mining, construction and economic reforms.

“I just took the liberty to highlight a few aspects from the Manifesto which relate to agriculture and land. Progress is also being made with regards to mining road rehabilitation and construction, the fight against corruption, as well as the stabilisation of the macro-economic environment and prices among others,” the President said.

President Mnangagwa also said his government remained committed to equitable distribution of resources.

“We set out under the 2nd Republic to establish and sustain a just and equitable society firmly based on our historical, cultural, social and economic experiences as well as our aspirations for better quality of life for all our people. Hence, a constant perusal of our Manifesto will reveal that our Government programmes are informed there from,” President Mnangagwa said. 

The President also urged citizens to remain vigilant in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“In relation to our ongoing response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the adjustments announced after Cabinet yesterday is testimony of our responsiveness to the ever-changing needs and realities. 

“Meanwhile, let us not relax but remain vigilant by continuing to practice social distancing, good hygiene of washing or sanitizing our hands as well as wearing masks,” said the President.
