Emganwini councillor lays down plan

THE newly-elected Citizen’s Coalition for Change (CCC) councillor for Ward 26 Mpumelelo Moyo has noted with concern the lack of infrastructure development in his ward and promised to work on mobilising resources for the construction of a housing office and a clinic.

Councillor Moyo told CITE that due to the lack of key infrastructure, residents are forced to walk long distances to the nearest ward to access certain services.

“My concern is that other suburbs like Cowdray Park which were built after Emganwini already have their own clinic ahead of us. I understand that there is Bulawayo United Residents Association (BURA) and Bulawayo Progressive Residents Association (BPRA) I will make sure that we pull together as one family and mobilise resources.

“I do not understand why such a big ward like Emganwini still lacks behind in terms of health facilities and housing office among other infrastructure. I will make sure we start a  clinic project as soon as possible,” he said.

Cllr Moyo added that he is aware that the Bulawayo City Council and will try to mobilise resources from the donor community.

“I will also engage donors to assist. I will be the servant of the people and preach unity amongst them. I will make sure that by the end of my short term in office at least there would be a visible structure of a clinic in the ward.

“I have also noted the need for recreational facilities and a vocational centre in the ward for the youth,” he added.

Moyo won the March 26 by-elections after his party failed to weather the double candidature storm resulting in two candidates being nominated to contest in ward 26.
