Renowned Zimbabwean policy advisor and governance specialist, Janah Ncube has been selected for a prestigious global leadership development programme at Yale University, one of the most elite universities in the United States.

Ncube was selected along with 15 other applicants drawn from different countries.

She is currently the Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Crisis Action, a global organisation working to protect civilians in conflict.

“Ncube joins a network of about 400 Fellows representing 96 countries and is the sixth Zimbabwean to be chosen for this programme. This year marks the 22nd cohort of World Fellows,” said a statement released by Maureen the Director of Communication at the Jackson School of Global Affairs at Yale University.

Commenting on the development, the Director of International Leadership Center, Emma Sky said the programme was committed to working with accomplished professionals who were passionate about solving conflict.

“The 2023 World Fellows have the skills, experience and aptitude to address the great challenges of our time and to mentor our students”.

The World Fellow Programme is Yale University’s signature global leadership development initiative and a core element of Yale’s ongoing commitment to internationalism.

Each year, the University selects 16 individuals from a highly competitive applicant pool for an intensive four-month period of academic enrichment and leadership training.

Yale President, Peter Salovey, added it was an honour to welcome these leaders and innovators to the campus.

“World Fellows have improved people’s lives, and their contributions have far reaching influence on society. They enrich our learning environment by sharing their expertise and experiences with our students. They have the opportunity to grow academically and personally as they interact with our community. This programme is an example of Yale’s commitment to developing globally engaged leaders,” he said.

According to the Jackson School of Global Affairs, the mission of the World Fellow Programme is to enable extraordinary individuals from across the globe and from diverse disciplines, to increase their capacity to make the world a better place.

The programme is the heart of the International Leadership Center housed within the Jackson School of Global Affairs where Yale students prepare for global leadership and service through its master programme in public policy in global affairs, and undergraduate major in global affairs.
