Controversial Buyanga nabbed in SA

CONTROVERSIAL Zimbabwean businessman Frank Buyanga Sadiqi has been arrested in neighbouring South Africa for child trafficking and violating that country’s immigration laws.

The child trafficking case relates to a 2020 incident where Sadiqi allegedly fled the country to South Africa with his child when the child custody case was in court.

“Interpol South Africa through the assistance of the South African Police Service’s National Intervention Unit (NIU) have during an early morning raid arrested a 43- year-old businessman at an upmarket hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg.

“Sadiqi is wanted by the Zimbabwean authorities for child trafficking, forgery and violation of the immigration act. The charges emanate from an incident which took place in April 2020 in Zimbabwe where the suspect kidnapped his next of kin and fled with him to South Africa,” the South African Police Services (SAPS) said in a statement.

In 2011, Sadiqi relocated to South Africa after he was allegedly charged with defrauding more than 45 people in Zimbabwe through his company, Hamilton Property Holdings.

It was allegedly reported that he changed his name in 2012 to conceal his identity after he was listed by the International Police’s (Interpol) list of wanted people.
